Sheraton LaGuardia East

The Sheraton LaGuardia East hotel is located in the bustling Queens Chinatown area and a very close 2 minute walk from the Flushing Main St Metro station. While it is about a 35 minute train ride into downtown Manhattan, it is surrounded by plenty of shops and restaurants in case you need anything.

The decor of the hotel was rather unique and had a decidedly Asian flavor what with Buddha statues and vases adorning the atrium and lions guarding the entrances. I suppose this is due to the partial influence of being located in the Queens Chinatown area.

The Link@Sheraton is also located in the main lobby where you can get access to internet. Checking in was quite painless and as a Starwood Gold Member, they offered complimentary access to the Sheraton Club Lounge. I had used Cash & Points for this stay so it cost 4k SPG points & $60 per night.

The hallways give off a mellow feel with the dimmed lighting.

The room was quite pleasant and the two comfortable looking sofas were very much appreciated. There were also two red boxes located next to the bed (seen in the second photo below). I'm not sure what their purpose was but it was certainly a unique decoration and addition to the room.

The bathroom was fairly standard and the view from our room was unremarkable, looking out to a parking lot outside.

At the elevators, you can pick up a copy of a chinese language newspaper (again, Chinatown influence probably).

The Sheraton Club Lounge was a smallish room where we were offered an assortment of fruits and pastries for breakfast. The selection was rather small although my expectations weren't too high to begin with. Again, you can see a lot of Asian inspired decorations from Chinese vases to ornamental statues.

Overall, our stay here was quite pleasant and I definitely wouldn't mind returning to this Category 4 Starwood hotel on my next NYC stop. I really wish I had more time to explore the hotel surroundings as there appeared to be plenty of things to do nearby.
