Mezquita - Cathedral of the Lady of the Assumption

The stunning views of the Mezquita continue as you progress into the inner section of the mosque where the Renaissance-styled Cathedral of Cordoba rises out in the middle of the Islamic prayer hall.

Mezquita - The Great Mosque of Cordoba

The first glimpse you get inside the Mezquita ranks among one of the most stunning views you will ever see (at least for me!). Rows upon rows of double alternating red and white arches made from pieces of the former Roman Temple that stood here gives off a feeling of wonder and awe, especially as it seems to go on endlessly in every direction.

Outside the Mezquita

Having visited Notre Dame of Paris, Strasbourg Cathedral, Barcelona's Sagrada Familia, Basilica di San Marco and many others, I can certainly say that Cordoba's Mezquita ranks as one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Europe. Although the exterior may seem a bit plain, it certainly hides well the surprising eye-opener you'll get when you step inside.

Chapel of St Kinga

Continuing our expedition in the Wieliczka Salt Mine, you can see salt as you venture through the tunnels and escavated paths the tour takes you through. Just as a note, the tour takes about two hours and you'll be with a large group of people typically so don't get trapped underground if you're not really into salt mines!

Wawel Castle Courtyard & Cathedral

The interior courtyard of Wawel Castle is quite splendid with its numerous arches and columns.

Churches in the Krakow Old Town Square

I had to make a separate post for this as Krakow has some of the most gorgeous churches I've seen in Europe. Starting with St Mary's Basilica in the main old town square, which has architecture which is quite reminiscent of some of the buildings I've seen in the Prague Old Town Square.

The Sights of Strasbourg

Strasbourg being the official seat of the European Parliament, it made sense to drop by Louise Weisse building, which houses it.
