Sheraton San Jose

The Sheraton San Jose, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, is a Starwood Category 4 hotel located near the Great Mall in Milpitas and about an hours drive from both San Francisco and Santa Cruz. The hotel is located near a few business parks and fairly close to a major freeway.

The property features a decent-sized swimming pool and some nice fountains and pond on the grounds outside although there was only one family around even on this gorgeous Saturday afternoon when we checked in. Granted, guests probably had better places to go than stay at a hotel on this beautiful day.

We were upgraded to the executive floor right across from where the lounge was located. The room was fairly standard with a nice sofa and work desk with a fairly business feel to it. I have to say though, the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed at this hotel probably gave me the best, most refreshing sleep I have ever had.

The view from the room balcony faced out over the parking lot towards the freeway and the Great Mall off in the distance. The Great Mall is actually a pretty big mall with a number of outlets so if you're in the mood for some shopping, it might be a good idea to pop by.

We were also provided with two complimentary bottles of water along with the standard Sheraton robes and a plain, utilitarian washroom.

We visited the lounge after settling in and we pretty much had the entire place to ourselves. There was a small business center off to the side as you enter and a well stocked beverage fridge with a few baskets of fruits on top of the counter.

The evening spread looked rather lonely though laid out on the counter off to one side. There was a fairly small plate of crackers and cheese on one end and two types of quiches inside the warmer on the other.

Overall, it was a fairly decent stay although if you're considering redeeming points for this hotel, 10k SPG points might be a bit steep considering the weekend rate is generally $100 or below.
